Spermophilus richardsonii

(Richardson's ground squirrel)

Image Caption:
With wet fur from the morning dew, a Richardson's ground squirrel (Spermophilus richardsonii) sits up to scan for potential threats.  As opposed to other similar species, the Richardson's ground squirrel has a fairly solid color coat and cinnamon or grey underparts (Michener & Koeppl, 1985).
